Crypto Geisha — What’s happening in the NFT Space?
Crypto Geisha is an NFT project that is quickly picking up a large amount of attention, consistently has sold out drops and a dedicated fan base.
Like many other NFT projects, Crypto Geisha NFTs are collectibles with each piece being unique in its own way. However, Crypto Geisha NFTs have managed to capture the wonderment of many through their particular style and engagement with the community. The collective has been dropping pieces from their 1st Collection. The collection will be made up of 100 NFT limited edition Crypto Geisha models. The scarcity of each piece varies between 10/10, 5/5, and 1/1. Moreover, they tease with the potential for occasional special edition drops. This project is a must for the watchlist for collectors, as Crypto Geisha’s mix of intangibles makes them highly sought after and sees them fetching incredible value in the secondary market.
Who are behind Crypto Geisha and How did it get started?
The collective behind Crypto Geisha is a couple of illustrators based in Barcelona. Aside from creating jaw-dropping NFTs, these illustrators have worked as comic book artists and colourists.
They first got into the crypto space by making a comic about cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology that was published in Spain. Through making this comic, the door to the wonderful world of cryptocurrencies and blockchain opened up to them. Coincidently the person who was in contact with them about the comic also exposed them to the world of NFTs. This, in their words, ‘Blew our minds’. They now believe that NFTs are a revolution that has made them completely question our role as artists in the most traditional roles on the market. This is a sentiment shared by many artists and collectors in the NFT space. Hence, a visceral community-led excitement, which has allowed projects like Crypto Geisha to proliferate.
The collective’s style and approach is guided by their shared love for comics, collecting toys, Japanese culture, weird stuff, and a lot of colour. This is all evident in their Crypto Geisha pieces. It is glaringly evident how much of their passion and interests have contributed to what has become Crypto Geisha.
As expressed by the collective themselves:
“The Geishas, with their diverse abilities, were entertainment professionals, we wanted to transfer that to the digital world, entertain you with our Crypto Geishas, it is about when you see one, you get lost in the details and there is something that makes you smile. It’s what makes them so collectible…”
The Crypto Geisha collective’s view on the NFT space and its future.
The collective doesn’t shy away from the fact that they are new to the space, and like many others are feeling overwhelmed by the excitement as well as their early success. They hold a positive outlook towards the future, expressing that they don’t know where this will go, but they are very much in it and looking forward to exploring and experimenting.
Crypto Geisha is now their main priority. However, they are looking at ways to bridge the two worlds; these being the NFT art space and the ‘real-life’ art space, as well as the mediums of experience that exist between the two. There haven’t been collaborations with the project yet, however, the collective has expressed they are definitely open to collaborations and are working on their first one.
Crypto Geisha serves as an example of how much potential there is in the NFT space. It demonstrates the empowerment the space provides for artists around the world to connect and engage with an audience in ways that haven’t been possible before. Moreover, whilst it allows for artists to explore their art and interests freely, it also creates a new dynamic between artist and collector that is evolving.
